1. About these terms
These Terms & Conditions apply to Discovery Flight Gift Certificates purchased from Throttle Up Flight Academy LLC (TUFA, we, us, or our). The purchaser is the person buying the certificate; the recipient or participant is the person who will take the flight. By selecting the agreement checkbox and completing a purchase, the purchaser agrees to these terms. Purchasing a gift does not authorize the purchaser to sign a flight participant’s separate consent or waiver on that person’s behalf.
2. Your discovery flight gift
The gift certificate provides one discovery flight for one participant with a flight instructor, as described in the offer at the time of purchase. A later price increase does not require an additional payment for that included discovery flight. A discovery flight is an introduction to the experience of flying. The instructor determines the activities appropriate for the participant and the conditions that day. Any advertised duration or included features are those stated in the purchased offer. Purchasing or using a discovery flight does not require enrollment in an ongoing flight training program.
3. Purchasing and payment
Payment must be successfully completed before a gift certificate can be redeemed. Please provide accurate purchaser and billing information and use a payment method you are authorized to use. The total purchase price is displayed before payment is submitted. Any additional service must be separately explained and accepted before it is charged. A declined, failed, or incomplete payment does not create a paid certificate. If you are unsure whether a payment completed, contact TUFA before attempting another purchase.
4. Delivery and purchase confirmation
Your gift certificate and purchase confirmation will be delivered using the delivery method shown at checkout. Please check the purchaser’s email address, the recipient’s name, and any gift message carefully. Keep your confirmation and certificate number for future reference. If an email does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder and contact TUFA for assistance. A gift certificate may be printed or presented electronically.
5. Using your gift certificate
Each certificate may be redeemed once for the discovery flight included in the purchased offer. Additional printed or electronic copies do not create additional flights. Provide the certificate number when arranging the flight so TUFA can verify that it is paid, valid, and unused. There are no inactivity fees. Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash except under the refund provisions below or as required by applicable law.
6. Giving or transferring the gift
An unused certificate may be given or transferred to another eligible participant. Contact TUFA so the recipient information can be updated before the flight. Transferring a certificate does not start a new refund period. Any eligible refund is issued to the original purchaser and original payment method, subject to the refund provisions below.
7. Scheduling your flight
You do not need to choose a flight date when purchasing a gift. The recipient can contact TUFA when ready to arrange a flight. A requested date or time is not reserved until TUFA confirms the appointment. Scheduling depends on instructor and aircraft availability, weather, airport operations, and other operating conditions. A specific aircraft or instructor is not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed by TUFA. Please allow additional time when arranging a flight for a birthday, holiday, or another special occasion.
8. Participant information and suitability
Participants must be able to safely take part in the flight and follow the instructor’s directions. Aircraft seating, restraints, access, and operating limitations may affect an individual’s ability to participate. Please contact TUFA before scheduling if you have questions about suitability or need an accommodation. A parent or legal guardian may be required to provide consent for a minor. Accurate information must be provided when reasonably needed to plan a safe flight.
9. Preparing for your appointment
Follow the arrival and preparation instructions provided when the flight is scheduled. Allow time for check-in, the preflight briefing, and any required documents. The instructor will explain the use of seat belts, aircraft equipment, personal devices, and other relevant procedures. If you are running late, please contact TUFA as soon as possible so we can discuss available options.
10. Weather, aircraft availability, and rescheduling
Safety is our first priority. TUFA may delay, reschedule, or cancel a flight because of weather, maintenance, aircraft or instructor availability, airport restrictions, or another condition affecting safe operations. Conditions can change before or during an appointment. When TUFA cancels a flight, we will help arrange another available time without an additional rescheduling charge, and the unused certificate remains available for the flight. If TUFA cannot fulfill the purchased offer, the original purchaser is eligible for a full refund.
11. Changes, cancellations, and missed appointments
Please notify TUFA as soon as possible if the participant needs to change or cancel an appointment. A replacement appointment is subject to availability and must be confirmed by TUFA. If an appointment is missed, contact us to arrange the next step. Changing, cancelling, or missing an appointment does not restart the original purchase refund period.
12. Instructor authority and conduct
The instructor has final authority over the flight and all safety decisions. A participant may handle aircraft controls only as directed and supervised by the instructor. Conduct or impairment that interferes with safe operations may prevent a flight from beginning or continuing. Let the instructor know immediately if you feel uncomfortable or unwell or wish to stop the flight. If a flight ends early or cannot proceed, TUFA will review the circumstances and an appropriate resolution, consistent with applicable law.
13. Refunds within 30 days
The original purchaser may request a refund for an unused gift certificate within 30 calendar days of the original purchase date. Contact TUFA with the purchaser’s name, purchase confirmation or certificate number, and enough information to verify the transaction. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method, and the refunded certificate is cancelled and cannot be used. Processing time depends on the payment provider and financial institution. If the original payment method is unavailable, contact TUFA to discuss the appropriate process.
14. After the refund period
After the 30-day refund period, an unused gift certificate remains available to redeem or transfer under these terms, but is not refundable unless required by applicable law or TUFA cannot fulfill the purchased offer. A change in personal preference or plans does not extend the refund period. A certificate that has been fully redeemed does not qualify for an unused-certificate refund. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
15. Lost certificates and transaction questions
If a certificate is lost or an email is misplaced, contact TUFA. After verifying the purchase and unused status, we can provide a replacement copy of the same certificate. A replacement does not create an additional flight. Please promptly report duplicate charges, incorrect purchase details, or other transaction concerns so we can investigate. TUFA may verify payment and certificate details when a transaction is disputed, unauthorized, or otherwise unresolved.
16. Flight documents and personal information
Separate participant information, emergency contact details, consents, or a flight waiver may be requested before the flight. Purchasing a gift does not replace those documents. Contact information supplied for the purchase may be used to verify the order, deliver the certificate, arrange the flight, and resolve related questions. Agreeing to these purchase terms does not, by itself, give consent to unrelated marketing or the use of a participant’s photograph.
17. Applicable terms and law
The offer, purchase confirmation, and version of these terms accepted at checkout govern the purchase. Future changes to the offer or terms do not reduce the rights attached to an existing purchase. These terms are subject to applicable Illinois and federal law. Any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited remain available. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
